I can’t believe it. Just over 12 months ago, I published my first article on Medium.com. I had no idea what I was doing and certainly felt like an imposter. This was especially the case when I hit the “Publish” button. My first article was out in the open, exposed to scrutiny and interest alike. That single article received 44 views, most of which were from LinkedIn readers. I had probably spammed a few LinkedIn groups, and the odd reader took the time to humour me by trudging through it.

Back then, I had no idea about the power of catchy headlines or search engine optimisation, and I still don’t have much of a clue about the latter. It’s funny when we intellectually know topics, like: “Make your writing as engaging as possible.”

Yet in practice I remain unconsciously incompetent, and slowly my skill levels increase. Ninety-five articles later, and I feel only a little wiser about the writing process. Writing still doesn’t come naturally, and my ability to predict a winning piece is still crap. Some of the most read articles have been the ones where I didn’t put in much effort. Some heavily viewed articles were from cross-promotion from other business owners in the change space.

I was lucky to have medium.com publication owners like Igor Arkhipov approach me. This way, some of my articles could be published in their publication. Their publication standards helped uplift my work. In August this year, I set up the Human Factors and Change publication on a whim. Or maybe a surge of caffeine from one excellent iced coffee one fine morning? Yep, not much planning went into it. I am privileged to have a small and growing readership of this regular publication.

The firth edition is undoubtedly on the way. As you can see from the ten links below, there’s quite a fair bit of content ready to go now. This issue will be the last one for 2021. In the meantime, I want to focus on other projects.

If you haven’t bought my book, please note that it is now on Amazon. My only misgiving about the e-book version of my book is that the pagination is slightly out on a few pages, and I don’t know what to do about it. Nonetheless, the content contains the best of my thinking (so far) on Change Management. Only a tiny sliver of my book’s content is in my Medium.com articles. I have a hardcover of my book sitting next to me on my bookshelf. Think of any proud dad you know — I am certainly one of them!

Here are recent articles in case you missed them:

I hope that you are happy and well in this last stretch of 2021. My sincere thank you if you have been in touch with me to give feedback about my book or publication. Your feedback gives me the energy to continue. Please let me know of any topics you want me to write about; I will be more than happy to consider them.

Want to write an article?

Also, if you ever want to write an article for Human Factors and Change, please let me know. Those of you who know me personally can attest that I would support and encourage anyone up to the challenge.

Or how about an interview?

If you don’t want to write that you would like me to interview you for a recorded session, please also be in touch. As Sharon Connolly and Igor Arkhipov may attest, these interviews are good exposure for your views on your profession.

I am curious about the experience and perspective of a wide variety of business professionals. You don’t have to be in Organisational Change Management. BAs, UX professionals, PMs, communication or instructional design professionals are all welcome. And anyone outside of that box too!
